Insightful Tax & Advisory Services
Josh Morphew, a TAB Member since 2015, has had two successes in the past 4 years. First, he left a successful CPA practice he had built over the years to join his parents’ company, Baxter Electric, Heating, and Air Conditioning as CEO, when the parents were experiencing medical and business issues. Josh, over a 3-year period as CEO, grew Baxter some 100% and was offered a very lucrative buyout of the business by his parents as they wanted to retire. During our TAB meetings Josh expressed his issues with the marketplace, personnel, and investment requirements, which encouraged him to his final destination. After engaging his TAB Facilitator as a consultant to negotiate the buyout decided he really wanted to return to a CPA practice and passed on the buyout. Hence, he sought out a Buyer and Closed a Sale transaction of the business for nearly 50% more than the Buyout price he had declined. The Buyer and his parents were very well served in the process.
Success #2 was the very thoughtful re-launch of Josh’s CPA practice in late 2017 based upon select Clients, in various trades he understood well, with the purpose of guiding their growth and in some cases their eventual exit via Sale. When Josh decided NOT to buy Baxter Electric from his parents due to his personal desire to return to the business he felt best suited, his TAB Board Members fully supported his thinking and encouraged him to “follow his passion” for accounting AND to seek the work-life balance that he missed while running Baxter.
Josh has offered valuable tax advisory, financial, and systems integration advice to add substantial value for Clients and now enjoys his CPA practice with a robust and growing Client base. Josh has been not only a value to the Clients of Insightful Tax and Advisory Services P.C. but has been a stalwart TAB Member bringing much insight, guidance, and problem-solving advice to the entire TAB Board on an ongoing basis. Josh has also achieved the “life balance” he sought. With soon to be two young children and his spouse, Sondra, he now has time for family RV trips, fishing in Canada, and lately fly fishing, along with hiking, lake time at his parents’ new lake home. Throughout the two processes, much trust between Josh and fellow TAB Members developed and he now enjoys 50% of his TAB Board as Clients. Josh is 40 years of age and has achieved a great deal while helping many with a fine skill set, integrity, and compassion in all dealings.
